Map Tactics: How to Play Serene Coast Like a Boss.
Learning to play maps is probably the single most important skill a tanker can master to improve his or her game … and the best way to do that is to watch a master at work.
LemmingRush, from the Number One ranked Mahou clan, is one such master.
In the video below, he shows in detail how he plays the Serene Coast map as a fast medium, and I personally learned six new tricks that will help my game.
My main observation on this map is that the game is not often won on the peninsula, where the heavies brawl. Rather, it’s usually won on the C1 corner, where commonly the mediums fight it out and then flank to the enemy cap.
If you’re on this map, you’re often better staging some TDs behind the peninsula and a couple of heavies further back to provide cap defence, rather than trying to push into the enemy cap. If your heavies are smart enough to draw the enemy force forward, your TDs will make short work of them as they advance, unprotected, down the 7-8 line.
In the meantime, if you can convince your team in chat to push most of your forces down the 1 line, you’re far more likely to win the C1 corner, push through their cap, and take the enemy heavies from behind.
As well, recently I have taken to driving my faster mediums into the valley area at the centre of the map, particularly when I can wolfpack in a platoon. If you win this area with two or three tanks, you can mess up their camping TDs at the back, or even better, flank around BEHIND the enemy mediums on the 1 line.
When this happens, their guns turn to you, and your teammates can come over the ridge, wipe them out, and then push on to cap.
What LemmingRush shows in this video is how to fight and win on the C1 corner without taking as much damage, and then how to proceed into the cap without getting wrecked by the Tank Destroyers lurking in the back.
I hope this video helps your game on this map, and if you like it, let me know in the comments.
