The Brits are Back: Update 9.20.1 is Here
The big day is here, as Wargaming drops Update 9.20.1 tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 18.
So, what are the big changes to expect?
As the title of this article suggests a major theme of this patch is buffing the British lines as part of WoT’s ongoing attempts to rebalance the tech tree.
There will be vast improvements to the TD line leading to the FV4002 Stage II, but serious buffs to the turret and overall armour for the heavy and medium tank lines. The changes mean the Super Conqueror will be introduced as the top of line heavy tank, with an almost impenetrable frontal turret. However, I feel the poor gun depression on this tank takes away from what could have been a really great top tier heavy, and like many, I would have much preferred to see the Chieftain introduced instead, as it is on the Console version.
It’s not just about the Brits though. The once-dominant now somewhat rusty Type 59 premium tank is getting a buff, as are many of the light tanks. The biggest overall change is buffing the firepower of the lights, so this line will be much more viable and relevant at Tier X.
I’ve included a video from Wargaming on the Update, and below that I’ve included a list of all the changes, straight from the mouth of the Wargaming dev team. As well, if you want to see specific changes to all tanks in this update, CLICK ON THIS LINK.
British TDs from the FV4005 Stage II line were revised to provide for a much more accessible experience, while the nation’s medium tanks at tiers VIII–X cemented their role as mid-range support vehicles receiving stronger front armor. Heavy Brits from tier VIII onward were reshaped into a coherent line built around the Conqueror’s gameplay with the all-new Super Conqueror replacing the FV215b at tier X.
The update also ramps up the firepower of tier X light tanks and reshuffles American LTs so that they offer unique, distinct gameplay. Finally, Chinese Premium tanks that grew obsolete over the years welcome a series of tweaks designed to make them relevant again.
